How do I sign-up/register for this quiz?
There are two ways of signing up as a team for ECQC:
You can either sign up using the web-based form on this website
OR
Send an email to ecqc@sparksentertainment.org with the list of your team members, their email addresses and phone numbers - and a creative team name.
Can my team comprise of individuals from different university branch campuses?
Unfortunately, no! You must have all your team mates representing only a single institution
What do I need to do after registering for a team
Once you have registered your team, you will get an immediate response confirming your participation. You will the be required to come to the CMU building on 5:30 on March 8th for the Preliminary round
Do I necessarily HAVE TO have attend the preliminary round. Why do you have a preliminary round?
Yes*, you have to attend the preliminary round. The preliminary round is aimed at to filter out the best teams from each of the university campuses, thus avoiding the need for different branch campuses to have their
own elimination rounds. This way, all the questions are standardized, and every team has an equal opporunity to make it to the finals.
*Teams from universities which do not have other registered teams will be waived from attending the preliminary round, and will make their way through to the finals.
Is there going to be any food?
There is going to be dinner for all attendees of the event
How long is the event going to last?
The event is expected to last until 8:30pm, which is when the final scores will be announced and big prizes will be distributed
Are there going to be prizes for attendees? If so, what stuff can we expect?
Yes! Do not miss a chance to win fabulous prizes until the very last minute of the quiz. Total prize money for prizes is >QR 6000!
What is the format of the quiz?
The format of the quiz is called Infinite Bounce. Details of how the format of the quiz will work in the finals will be explained at the preliminary round on the March 8th.
The format for the preliminary round is as follows: All teams from EC will be asked to answer a set of 30 questions in common. The team with the highest score from each University/institution will make it to the finals
I am not from Education City. Can I take part? Can I at least attend the final event?
Only members of EC are allowed to participate in ECQC '10. However, if you wish to attend the event, please write to ecqc@sparksentertainment.org to RSVP, and we may be able to give you an invitation.
How many people must a team comprise of?
A team must comprise of 3 individuals from the same educational institution. You may have either of the following combinations
> 3 students
> 2 students and a faculty member
> 2 students and a staff member
If you are unable to make a team of three, do not hesitate to register with us. You may find a third person until the day of the preliminary round.
